Educational Outreach
Baylor College of Medicine offers an ongoing educational outreach program designed to make neuroscience research accessible to students in our community. As part of this effort, the HNL offers educational tours to both elementary and high school students. In addition, we sponsor a student internship program for high school juniors and seniors, as well as college students.
Clements high school's psychology class has toured the HNL every spring semester since 2005. Headed by Richard Ruben, the Clements class gained a valuable insight into the neuroscience program here at Baylor.
Bendwood 3rd grade elementary school class toured the HNL facilities twice since 2005. The students were enthused to learn about how the brain works and got to see an actual MRI scan. More information here.
The HNL hosted numerous summer intern students since our opening in 2001. Students' educational backgrounds range from St. John's and Clements high school to Vanderbilt and Rice University. These interns worked hands on with ongoing projects in the HNL.
